Brussels-Midi is the city's main international station. Here's how to reach your hotel, the Grand Place, and the rest of Belgium.
Brussels-Midi (also called Bruxelles-Zuid or Brussels South) sits at the southern edge of the city centre, in the Saint-Gilles/Sint-Gillis area. The Grand Place is about 1.5km to the north — a 20-minute walk or a quick metro/tram ride.
The station is served by the Brussels metro and pre-metro (underground tram) system:
A single STIB ticket costs €2.10 and is valid for 60 minutes across all metro, tram, and bus services. Buy at machines in the station or use contactless payment.
Taxi ranks are outside the main station exits. Expect to pay €10–€15 to most central locations. Brussels taxis are metered. Uber operates in Brussels and is often slightly cheaper.
Brussels-Midi is Belgium's main railway junction. SNCB/NMBS domestic trains run frequently to:
Buy tickets at SNCB machines in the station or via the SNCB app. No advance booking needed — just turn up and go.
The area immediately around Brussels-Midi is functional rather than charming. But the walk north towards the Grand Place takes you through increasingly pleasant streets. Head up Rue du Midi or Avenue de Stalingrad and you'll reach the centre in about 20 minutes.
